Apple receives sexism complaints: new iPhone too big for female hands
With their new iPhones, Apple once again confirms that they are betting on big phones. Yet not everyone is set up with it. Some consider the size to be unfriendly because it is almost impossible to operate the smartphone with a smaller female hand.
The new iPhone has been unveiled and that means that we are again flooded with opinions, analyses and complaints. The latter category also includes the opinion of Zeynep Tufekci, technology journalist for The New York Times.
“Welcome to the big screens,” says Apple, while women with small hands like me get something that we cannot even hold and constantly threaten to drop, she baffled on Twitter. An opinion she shares with British feminist journalist Caroline Criado-Perez. She claims that she had constant muscle inflammations on her hands because her iPhone 6 was too big.
“We want to reach as many customers as we can with this incredible technology,” Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said, without irony, while Apple phased out the *only* phone I can hold without risking dropping. Stuck with Apple for security reasons
