Plane stop after a Russian refuses to leave the toilet
A plane with 134 people on board made an unforeseen landing in Graz, Austria on Saturday – twenty years to the day after the attacks of 11 September 2001 involving four hijacked planes. Reason: A passenger refused to leave the toilet.
According to the police, the 51-year-old man of Russian nationality had already locked himself in the toilet for the entire duration of the flight.
The captain of the Airbus A-320, which had departed from Cyprus to Zurich, therefore decided to make a stopover in Graz.
After landing, the Russian left the toilet. Police found nothing unusual in his luggage. The man did not give a reason for his behavior.
He continued his journey by train. The plane eventually took off with a 45-minute delay.
