Shilin: why is the stone forest famous?

Stone Forest in Yunnan Province is a fabulous place. It seems that dozens of titans once found their shelter here and equipped these lands in proportion to their majestic status. You can see huge mushrooms, trees, sleeping turtles, and even elephants in bizarre geological formations. And all this, so unshakable and majestic, has survived to our time.
About 300 million years ago, there was a deep-sea here, but after it dried up, the underwater relief was exposed and forever became a hostage to elements no less insidious than water. Air, sun, and time have thoroughly worked on this place before presenting it to the judgment of man. I have to say, it turned out to be absolutely amazing.

The stone forest is divided into 2 parts: aboveground and underground. The part of the natural complex that is located on the surface, in turn, is divided into 3 more parts: the Naigu stone forest, the small stone forest, and the main stone forest. The underground part includes, for example, Zhiyun Karst Cave, covering an area of 3 square kilometers, and other caves. In underground caves, you can find all the same interesting stone figures, and their deep location gives them a special mystery.

Another attraction of the park is the Cave of the Mysterious Wind. It has an amazing underground river, from which a whirlwind breaks out every 30 minutes. It glides over the water surface for only 2-3 minutes, and then slowly begins to subside.

This phenomenon can only be observed between August and November. Also, on the territory of the stone forest, there is a wonderful river Ba, which, forming a swift stream, falls from a height of 88 meters. This waterfall, called Dade, becomes especially picturesque during the rainy season.
