The dangers of eating watermelon listed by a nutritionist
As the watermelon season is fast approaching, a Russian nutritionist has revealed that this fruit can cause weight gain and advised people who have diabetes and atherosclerosis to do without it.
Excessive consumption of watermelon carries many dangers, while some people should not eat watermelon at all, Russian nutritionist Olga Grigorian said in an interview with Govorit Moskva. She explains that the abuse of this cucurbit could cause metabolic dysfunction and lead to obesity, among other things.
“If you eat more than one and a half kilos of watermelon every day, you are almost automatically guaranteed to gain weight,” she said.
She pointed out that the person concerned would gain weight due to the increase in body fat. “And everyone knows today how difficult it is to lose the adipose component” of weight, the nutritionist pointed out.
She called on those who have diabetes and atherosclerosis to give up watermelon.
No more than 300 grams
People with allergies should reduce the doses they take. “If you have a history of allergic bronchitis or bronchial asthma, or if you experience rashes or complications from skin diseases such as psoriasis, don’t insist on watermelon,” Olga said.
She added that you should not eat more than 300 grams of this juicy and sweet flesh at one time.
“You have to understand that watermelon has a delicious taste, especially because it contains a large amount of sugar,” she noted, calling for control of its consumption.
