These nine modern cars rust the fastest

The rust ghost is back because a number of brands significantly cut back on corrosion prevention. The nine cars that rust the fastest are the Citroen C4 and Cactus, Ford Ecosport, Focus and S-Max, Honda Civic, Kia Stonic, Nissan Leaf and Qashqai and the Subaru XV.

Modern cars have their best times in terms of rust prevention behind them, according to a Swedish report, which was picked up by the German magazine Autobild. For the research, cavities in the cars were examined per endoscope. Panels were disassembled and the cars were also protected against corrosion.

The result is in a star rating: five stars means perfect rust prevention. The fewer stars, the stronger the brown plague can spread in the car. German car manufacturers such as Audi, VW, Mercedes and BMW have proven to protect their products against rust. As well as the French manufacturer Renault.

However, the Japanese, widely acclaimed because of their high reliability, have considerable rust problems. The three largest buckets are, according to AutoBild, the Japanese Honda Jazz, the French Citroen C4 Cactus and the Japanese Nissan Quashquai. Also, the Swedish Volvo is relatively bad since it falls under the Chinese Geely: the Volvo XC40 and XC60 get only three out of five stars.
