Top 8 false excuses that we find for not praying

Fatigue, laziness, lack of time… Admit that we have all already found thousands of false pretexts to escape prayer. Yet, just as our body needs nourishment to live, our spirit also needs prayer time to strengthen itself.

Christian’s lifestyle, therefore, draws up today the top 8 excuses that you will no longer be able to use for not going to pray!

Excuse #1: I don’t have time

If you manage to find the time to lay down in front of the television, to watch the latest popular series, to phone your loved one for an hour, and to spend half an hour on Facebook, you must be able to clear time to have a little one-on-one time with God.

Excuse #2: I’m tired

Choose a strategic time, a time when you are sure not to fall asleep praying. For example, you can choose to pray after breakfast or in the evening, just before watching your movie. If your body never tires of eating, make sure it never tires of praying either!

Excuse #3: I don’t know what to say.

Maybe you feel like you are repeating yourself and never knowing what to say in your prayers. In reality, to pray is quite simply to address God. Use simple words, and express yourself with your own language and vocabulary. Remember that what God asks of us is to have a relationship with Him. He is your Father and you are His child. Address Him naturally, as you would address a friend, but with due awe and reverence. Trust your mind to find the right words.

Excuse #4: I have no prayer topics

Prayer topics, there are many: your repentance, your family, your friends, your school, your work, the situation of the world, your spiritual difficulties and trials, your call, without forgetting to praise, to adore God and to express your gratitude for all He has done in your life…

Excuse #5: I don’t like to pray

When you are in a relationship, you like to chat with your partner. How is it then that you have accepted Christ into your heart, but you don’t like talking to Him?

Excuse #6: This can wait. I’ll do it later

Putting off what you can do at the moment is the best way to never do what you had planned to do! Is there anything more urgent than speaking to His God? Is it up to Him to be patient while waiting for you to finish your various tasks, or up to you to make Him a priority?

Excuse #7: I’ve sinned too much. God won’t listen to me

The Word declares that Jesus did not come for the healthy but for the sick and the lost (John 3/17). How does having too much sin keep you from praying? You just need to come back to Him by repenting. First, it will relieve you of the weight of guilt, second, you will be cleansed of your sins again, and finally, it will allow you to start from scratch and take another path: that of sanctification.

Excuse #8: I’ve prayed too much already, and nothing has changed in my life

With God, perseverance is the key to success! Nothing happens with the snap of a finger. Besides, just because you haven’t seen anything in the visible world doesn’t mean that nothing has happened in the spiritual world. All of our prayers have an impact and none are wasted.

If God has not yet answered your prayers, it may be because He is waiting to see how much you want to see Him act in your life, the efforts you are ready to make, and above all the perseverance which you will demonstrate!

None of these 8 excuses are valid reasons for fleeing prayer! So, when are you going back to it?
