UN warns: ‘Sex workers face major difficulties in corona times’

The United Nations has pointed out the complicated situation of prostitutes in the corona crisis.

The countries must also protect the human rights of this profession, demand the UN organization UNAIDS and the network NSWP (Global Network of Sex Work Projects) today.

“As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, sex workers are experiencing times of need, with complete loss of income, increasing discrimination and harassment.”

Many countries are reported to be finding it more difficult or impossible to access social assistance projects.

In addition, there have been reports of raids, forced tests for the virus, arrests, and threats with the expulsion of foreign prostitutes.

UNAIDS and NSWP, in light of the quarantine regulations, require homeless women to have access to appropriate shelters.
