No water ballet, but lunch time: whales blow bubbles into formation
These beautiful images were filmed off the coast of the South Shetland Islands, an island group in Antarctica. The images show a group of humpback whales. It looks like they are doing water ballet, but that is not the case.
They are catching food. The whales breathe out just below the surface of the water before circling around a school of fish.
The fish are caught in a net of bubbles and are easy prey for the whales.
