100-year-old lady rejoices when she marries 26 years younger partner
A British woman has stepped into the marriage boat at the age of one hundred. Norah Witkiss married a 26-year younger partner in a hotel in Prestatyn (Wales). A bridal gunner pushed her wheelchair through the aisle while ‘Dancing Queen’ was being played by Abba.
Witkiss and her partner Malcolm Yates (74) had been together for thirty years when he asked her to marry him. The woman, a former school cook, told last month in an interview that marrying had never been discussed before. “Malcolm never spoke about it and I did not ask him to marry,” she said. “But he would do anything for me. It was certainly worth waiting for.”
The wedding ceremony took about half an hour. There were about thirty friends and family members present. The bride, who now goes through life as Norah Yates, later said that he was overjoyed. “It is really fantastic to be a bride”, she sounded beaming. The good lady had already been married twice before.
