Arrest of 8 hackers in Morocco

Yesterday, Monday, July 2, 2018, the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Morocco arrested eight members of a criminal network specialized in blackmail to personal data.

In cooperation with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the BNPJ arrested eight people involved in data theft in anticipation of blackmail.

Three of the alleged perpetrators are known to the police, reported the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).

The criminal network had been hacking social media accounts and using content, such as personal videos and photos, to blackmail users by asking them for large sums of money, reports moroccoworldnews .

DGNS reported that security services seized mobile phones used for blackmail and receipts from international banks.
