Dangerous pose: influencer dies after trying to take a selfie

An influencer has died tragically in Hong Kong. Sofia Cheung wanted to take a selfie at the edge of a waterfall. However, she slipped and ended up five meters deeper in the water. The woman was taken to hospital, but only her death could be determined.

The fatal accident happened last Saturday. Cheung had gone with three friends to Ha Pak Lai Park, a nature park popular with hikers.

Besides a love for long hikes, she also liked to take inspiring photos, preferably in daring places. She used to dangle from the end of a rock, with a ravine below her. “If you never try, you never know,” she captioned it.

Two days before her death, Cheung posted another photo with — in retrospect — a painful message. “Better days are ahead. They are called Saturday and Sunday.”
