Diamond production in Angola revised downwards for 2021

Angola’s diamond production forecasts for 2021 have been revised downwards due to the impact of the coronavirus health crisis, Angolan state-owned company Endiama announced Wednesday.

“For the current year, the target was 14 million carats of diamonds, but due to the impact of Covid-19, the outlook has been readjusted to 9.3 million carats,” said Endiama’s chairman of the board, Ganga Júnior, at the half-yearly meeting devoted to the diamond sub-sector’s balance sheet.

As for the forecast for 2022, he added, Angola expects to produce 13.8 million carats of diamonds, allowing the state to collect US$1.5 billion.
