A film on Netflix in which Jesus is portrayed as gay has ensured that no fewer than two million viewers signed a petition in which they demand that the streaming service scraps the offending film from its offer.
The Brazilian movie ‘The First Temptation of Christ’ shows Jesus, who brings a special guest to the family celebration on his 30th birthday: his boyfriend Orlando.
The film is the work of the YouTube group Porta dos Fundos, which invokes artistic freedom and the right to satire.
The petition against the film was distributed on Twitter, and signatories threaten to boycott Netflix.
“Put Jesus down as gay and let Mary smoke weed? Blasphemous to the highest degree,” that’s how it sounds there.
