Follow these tips for smoother and healthier skin

In this faster-paced and highly demanding world, self-care is among the things that are often promoted to the masses. Though the term itself could translate differently to each person, most would include taking care of their skin as part of self-care. Besides making sure of your skin’s health, taking care of your skin could also give you an extra shot of confidence and help you tackle the world.

Having said that, caring for your skin is more than just applying beauty products. Rather, it is establishing a lifestyle that is beneficial for not just your skin but also your health in general. So, here we have concluded some of the steps for your better and smoother skin.

Exfoliate

When your skin regenerates, it leaves dead skin cells, which will travel to the surface of your skin to be discarded. Much like dealing with trash in our daily lives, when dead skin cells are not thrown out properly, a lot of problems might arise. Some include uneven skin texture, dullness, dryness, and even breakouts.

In this case, exfoliation came as a way to make sure that the unwanted skin cells are thoroughly discarded, leaving your skin clean and smooth. Exfoliation can be done mechanically or chemically, depending on your skin’s condition. However, it is recommended that you only exfoliate 2-3 times a week, so you don’t harm your good skin cells.

Moisturize

Dry and flaky skin is one of the most common skin-related issues that most people have. Solving the problem can be done by the daily application of the right moisturizer for your skin. Enjoy smooth and healthy skin with just a few dabs and swipes in the morning and at night.

Drink enough water

Water is your body’s most natural source of hydration. Besides using a moisturizer, it is essential to drink at least 2 liters of water per day. This is because when your body is properly hydrated, it will keep your skin’s elasticity intact and erases signs of dryness on your face, making it look smooth and healthy.

Apply sunscreen

As the pandemic is easing, we are slowly going back to our own out-and-about routines. Whether it is to the office or one of your classes, remember to wear your sunscreen before going out. Just as your mask and hand sanitizer protect you from catching the virus, using sunscreen protects you from various skin damages due to prolonged exposure to the sun.

Wrinkles and dark spots are some of the issues that might arise when you opt for sun protection to be out of your skincare routine. Over time, this would create an uneven texture on your face and make you seem older than you really are.

Ranging from hydrating to preventing acne, a face mask can be just the booster that your face needs. But, unlike magic, you need to use a face mask regularly to fulfill its function. Most face masks are to be used once a week, though it might vary depending on your skin’s need.

Besides buying one, you can also make your own face mask at home using natural ingredients. For example, to get rid of dullness and make your skin look smoother you can mix one cup of boiled water, one bag of green tea, and six raspberries. This way, you can also enjoy a fresh look without hurting your pocket.

Exercise

It is no secret that exercising can help you lead a healthier life. It can help control your weight, reduce the risk of life-threatening illnesses, and even maintain your mental health. Truly, the benefits of incorporating exercise into your routine are just endless.

When we exercise, our heart will pump faster, which causes our blood circulation to improve naturally. In this case, it gives our skin more chance to get the oxygen and nutrients it needs, which keeps it looking smooth and healthy.

Get your beauty sleep on

Though you’re probably out of it when you’re sleeping, the same thing cannot be said for your body. Like the rest of your organs, your skin undergoes a repair process when you’re asleep. Your skin cells are being renewed, and collagens are being produced, which then erases skin damage you gained throughout the day.

When you skip sleep, you rob your own body of its chance to go through said processes. This may result in you needing more time and additional commitments to get your skin to its previous condition. Therefore, sleeping for at least 7 hours a day is highly important.

In your journey to better and healthier skin, it is wise to remember that the result will not be instant. However, you need to stay consistent with your effort, and you will eventually enjoy the fruit of your patience. Good luck!
