He ends up in jail after rejoicing the death of policemen on Facebook

A Gardois publicly rejoiced at the murder of the three policemen by a madman in the Puy-de-Dome, France. Accused of apologizing for a crime on social networks, he faces five years in prison.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Pezenas, in Herault, after declaring to be satisfied with the death of the three policemen in Puy-de-Dome, reports La Gazette de Nîmes.

According to the regional daily, the individual rejoiced on his Facebook page, the day of the officials’ death. An investigation by the Gard security officers led to his arrest. Referred to the prosecution, the man was indicted for “apologia for a crime” and placed in pre-trial detention pending trial.

He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.

The drama

Three policemen were killed and a fourth injured in Saint-Just, in Puy-de-Dôme, France, during domestic violence intervention. The author was found dead a few hours later, not far from his home, near his vehicle, a weapon in his hand, the public prosecutor of Clermont-Ferrand told the press.

According to initial hypotheses, the murderer himself set his house on fire. His companion was out on the roof. The three policemen who intervened were fatally injured as they tried to rescue the woman. The madman would have opened fire without prior threats.
