How to get rid of annoying pimples on the back

A dermatologist explains why back acne is not just a problem for teens and what steps you can take to regain clean, healthy skin.

“It can occur anywhere on the body and at any age,” Dr Robert L. Finney, a New York-based dermatologist, clarifies that acne and the unsightly pimples it causes are not teenage problems. It is an unpleasant condition that afflicts many adults.

As he explains speaking to the American Men’s Health, the causes of the appearance vary. “Acne can be genetic or due to a hormonal disorder or even develop as a side effect of a drug or simply because of your oily skin, which in combination with sweating has created a dangerous cocktail capable of filling your body with a pimple.”

One of the most common forms of acne, especially in men, develops on the back and shoulders and in the summer months due to the heat, sweat, and intense sunlight “flare-up”. What do you need to do to deal with it effectively?

The steps that will help you get rid of pimples

Make an appointment with a dermatologist

The safest and fastest way to start treating the problem is to consult a dermatologist to assess the condition and advise you on what treatment is proper for you.

Prefer cotton fabrics and comfortable clothes

Cotton permit the skin to breathe, which is not the case with synthetic fabrics. For this reason, especially in the summer months, invest in cotton clothes, which do not fit but have a comfortable line.

Take frequent showers

Because sweat and dirt make acne worse, do not forget to take a shower right after your workout.

Do not rub your skin

Buy a soft sponge and gentle movements without intense rubbing, clean the skin in the back area.

And do not touch it constantly

Touching or, even worse, scratching the pimples, you seemingly alleviate the itching they cause you, but you risk infecting the area and creating more problems.

Exfoliate

Essentially, acne is created because the skin’s pores are blocked by sebum secretion, creating pimples. To eliminate dead skin cells and decongest the pores, be sure to exfoliate once a week.

Eat healthily

Avoid alcohol, sugar, foods rich in fat and spicy or fried foods that negatively affect acne and do not contribute to the detoxification of the body.

Note* Always consult your doctor or other qualified health care professional for any questions you may have about your health or condition. Never disregard a health care professional’s advice or delay getting it because of what you read on this website.
