Jay-Z: Beyoncé and I want to offer our children a sense of security
Although Jay-Z (51) is normally quite reserved about his private life, he was remarkably candid in an interview with ‘The Sunday Times’. He told, among other things, how he and Beyoncé (39) experienced the lockdown with their children Blue Ivy (9), Rumi and Sir (both 3).
‘In the beginning, it was really necessary to get together and make a connection. That we would all focus on our family and being together, that’s how we learned even more about each other. And when that lockdown continued, we reflected on ‘the new normal’, what would that look like?’ Says Jay-Z.
Loved
As a father, he also says he learned a lot. ‘The most important thing for a child is to feel loved. I want to give my children every opportunity, and I believe that as long as you support and love a child, anything in life is possible.’
Together with Beyoncé, Jay tries to create a stable environment for their children. ‘They have to be able to be who they are. In fact, as parents, we are nothing more than guides, children have to find their own path.’
