The Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of a 35-year-old man, Ayegunle Adekunle, who allegedly desecrated a three-year-old girl.
According to a police report, the suspect, who would be one of the roommates of the victim’s parents in the Oriokuta area of Ota, was arrested on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
State police public relations officer Abimbola Oyeyemi said the victim’s mother reported the incident at Onipanu Police Station.
She reportedly told the police that she had found bloodstains in her daughter’s pants, adding that after further investigation she had seen blood in her private parts.
Oyeyemi stated that the girl told her mother that the suspect had lured her to his room and tainted her.
He added that Onipanu’s divisional policeman, Sangobiyi Johnson, had detailed the detectives at the scene where the suspect had been arrested.
Oyeyemi noted that the suspect had blamed his action on the devil.
“Police Commissioner Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the case be transferred to the Unit for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Child Labor of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department as a complement to investigation and prosecution,” he added.
