Ondo rock with explosion, hundreds of buildings razed

More than a hundred buildings were destroyed in the early hours of Saturday following an explosion that shook Ondo State, Nigeria.

The loud explosion occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Eleyowo, Akure, along the Owo-Akure highway around 1 a.m., according to the residents. One of the locals explained that a terrifying blast was heard while everybody was already asleep.

The explosion affected a full boarding school, Aina Awawul High School, one of the most famous churches in Akure, possible ground ministry, as well as the filling station and hundreds of buildings.

As a result of the explosive, the highway was cut off with hundreds of travelers stranded. Police and other security agencies are already on the ground to assess the situation.
