Pedophile babysitter who was wanted for abuse reports to FBI after 23 years
Wayne Arthur Silsbee (62) was able to stay away from the FBI for more than twenty years but volunteered on Friday. He was wanted for the sexual abuse of several children between eight and ten years old. It is not clear why the fugitive approached the authorities.
On Friday, Silsbee walked into a police station in the US state of Oregon, where he surrendered, the FBI reported yesterday. Between 1995 and 1996 the man allegedly abused several girls. Among other things, he came into contact with his victims by babysitting. He had also “taken some to events”.
An arrest warrant was issued in 1996 and the next 23 years he was wanted by the FBI, but he was never caught.
Why Silsbee suddenly turned up after so many years is unknown. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow. In the meantime, the FBI is calling everyone who was in contact with the man to call a tip line.
