Baby with corona infection died in the USA

A baby infected with the coronavirus died in the state of Illinois. The local health service stated in a statement that an ‘extensive investigation’ should shed light on the exact cause of death. The child was less than a year old.

Governor Jay Robert Pritzker of Illinois said he was shocked by the news. “I know how difficult this news can be, especially since it’s about such a young child,” he said at a press conference. It’s especially sad for this little child’s family. We have to grieve.”

It is known that babies around the world have become infected with the coronavirus. However, it is not known how many there are. Some are known to have conquered the disease, very occasionally a baby is reported to have died from the effects of the lung virus. This was the case last Thursday in Ecuador with a baby younger than seven months.

Especially people with a weakened immune system, the chronically ill and the elderly are at increased risk of dying if they become infected. In Illinois, 85 percent of deaths are age 60 or older. However, the health service pointed out that the disease can be severe in people of all ages.
