Chinese probe transmits video images of Mars
The Chinese space agency (CNSA) has distributed video images of the probe Tianwen-1 flying over Mars. Two days earlier, the probe had managed to settle into orbit around Mars.
The video from CCTV, the Chinese state television, shows how the planet’s surface stands out against the black sky. According to state agency China News, white craters are visible on the surface of the planet, after which the Martian day turns into night.
China rivals the US diplomatically and technologically. The country now also wants to compete with an ambitious space program. The goal is to have a manned space station by 2022 and send an astronaut to the moon by 2030.
