Justin Bieber candid: I lost myself to fame and money
In an extensive post on Instagram, Justin Bieber confesses that he has lost himself considerably through fame and money in recent years. “I let ego and power takeover.”
“I come from a small town in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. I didn’t have material things and was never motivated by money or fame,” the 26-year-old star begins. “I just loved music.” His norms and values changed in his teens, he says. “But as I became a teenager, I let my insecurities and frustrations dictate what I put my value in. My values slowly started to change. I let ego and power takeover, and my relationships suffered because of it.”
Bieber says he likes to want ‘healthy relationships’ and wants to learn from what he calls his ‘blind spots’.
He does his best to be a good husband to his wife, Hailey Baldwin, whom he married in 2018. He is also looking forward to possible fatherhood. The Canadian pop idol is happy with the fact that Jesus guides him in this process.
Bieber has spoken openly on several occasions about the struggle with his feelings and emotions, Hailey’s important role in his life, and their faith – which helps him stay on the right track. And of course, his music.
Appropriately, this year his fifth studio album was released on Valentine’s Day: ‘Changes’. Besides Bieber, the album features artists such as Lil Dicky, Quavo, Summer Walker, and Travi $ Scott.
Bieber also made a docuseries on YouTube: ‘Justin Bieber: Seasons’, with which the singer exposed himself and showed how he is trying to deal with his health problems (he announced early this year that he suffered from Lyme disease), stress, and his return to the music business.
