Mexican actor from ‘Roma’ may not enter US to pick up Oscar

One of the actors of ‘Roma’ may miss the presentation of the Oscars due to problems with his travel documents. The film has been nominated for ten Academy Awards.

Mexican Jorge Antonio Guerrero applied for a visa three times before to travel into the US, but that was refused in all cases. The actor, who plays the friend of main character Cleo in the film, according to IndieWire also had to miss the press days of the film in America because he does not have the right papers to enter the country.

Producers of ‘Roma’ wrote several letters of recommendation for the actor, but that did not help him when he wanted to attend the presentation of the Golden Globes earlier this month. In front of a Mexican newspaper, Jorge Antonio announced that he would make a new attempt for the Oscars. “If someone at the embassy would read the invitations once, they would understand that this is a cultural exchange between two countries.”
