In eastern China, authorities say a man attacked passers-by with a knife on Saturday afternoon. Five people lost their lives, and another 15 were injured.
The stabbing occurred in a pedestrian zone in Anqing, Anhu province.
Police officers arrested the man on the spot, according to the city’s security agency. His motive is not yet known.
A local Red Cross blood bank has asked residents on Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter, to donate blood urgently, due to “scarce supplies” in the aftermath of the stabbing.
