The next “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie will be without Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp (55) will not play in the next ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ film. That is what some high-ranking film producers from Disney report to The Hollywood Reporter. They are looking for ‘a new energy’ in the films.
It seems that the days of Johnny Depp as captain Jack Sparrow are counted. After the rumours have been around for a while, a Disney executive seems to confirm that news now. Chef film production at Disney, Sean Bailey wonders whether the franchise can continue without Depp, but says that the film series needs ‘a new energy’.
“I love the movies,” says Bailey. “But we are currently working on Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (the scenarios of ‘Deadpool’) to revitalize the franchise.” Bailey is not the first person who has been studying on Depp’s departure from the series. Also ‘Pirates’ screenwriter Stuart Beattie once said that Depp had already walked a ‘nice route’.
