The small dog gave his life to save a child from a wolf – Video
A dog gave its life to save the life of a 10-year-old boy threatened by a wolf in Russia. Hunger pushes animals out of the woods to get closer to the houses.
A terrier showed great courage to stand up to a wolf threatening a 10-year-old child, reports the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. The scene took place in the hamlet of Sindor, located in the Komi Republic, and was filmed by a surveillance camera.
The footage shows the boy huddling behind a pile of snow, not far from a house, during a game of hide-and-seek. A few seconds later, a wolf appears on the edge of the forest and approaches step by step. A small dog rushes through the house’s half-open gate to stand up in front of the predator.
However, the fight between the two animals has turned sour, and the little dog has lost its life. The child ran away before being rescued.
Driven out of the forests by hunger
The local administration is considering the possibility of allowing hunting. The hamlet of Sindor is accustomed to intrusions of wild animals. It is the hunger that drives the wolves, and sometimes even bears, out of the forest and closer to the houses, say the inhabitants of Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“Two years ago, we were fighting bears, now wolves. […] They have nothing to eat in the forest. Moreover, in the woods on the edge of the village, unscrupulous entrepreneurs throw rubbish in the woods, which attracts wild animals,” they explain.
On 24 December, a similar scene took place not far from Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic. Two wolves had ventured to a house’s outskirts in the center of a village, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports. A dog held by a chain had stood up to them for a few moments before being devoured. The video had gone rounds the social networks.
