Thieves steal Banksy’s work on Bataclan

A work that British artist Banksy had made on an emergency door of the Parisian Bataclan concert hall was stolen last night. The French news channel LCI reports this on its website.

“The thieves with balaclavas removed the work with grinders and took it in a truck,” says a source close to the investigation.

Banksy applied the silkscreen print with white paint to the door of the Bataclan last June. In the hall, on November 13, 2015, 90 people were killed in an attack. The image that the artist put on the door shows a mourning figure. The thieves were filmed by a surveillance camera during their action.

It is not the first time that Banksy’s work has been stolen. In June, a work estimated at several thousand euros was stolen by a masked person from a gallery in Toronto (Canada). That theft was also filmed.
