Is it difficult to meditate? Try these 5 ways

We probably don’t need to tell you that meditation is good for your sleep quality and mental health. But what if you can’t get it quiet in your head? What if those mantras aren’t for you? Fortunately, there are different ways of meditating, so you can choose the best suits your preferences.

5 thoughts for meditating

Forget all your worries, stop worrying about the future, and bring yourself to the present… With one of these 5 mediation thoughts, for example!

Visualize a beach

Are you tossing and turning in bed? Imagine you are at the beach. Focus on all the details: the warm sand between your toes, the smell of the salty sea breeze, the sound of the waves and seagulls, the color of the water, the waving palm trees… You can choose whether you take a walk along the water or lie down on the warm sand.

Floating on Clouds

For this meditation, it is best to lie completely flat, for example, in bed. Breathe in and out deeply until you calm down. Then imagine that you are lying on a soft, fluffy, white cloud.

That cloud rises and lifts you into the sky. In this way, you float for a while on the soft, white cloud, in the middle of a blue, sunny sky. Choose where the cloud takes you: even higher in the sky or close to civilization.

Meditate with music

Do you find these kinds of scenarios difficult? Use meditation music to bring you into the now. Search for ‘meditation music’ on Spotify or YouTube and see for yourself how large the range is. Choose whether you prefer quiet music or up-tempo yoga music (such as in an active yoga class).

Set up a guided meditation

Guided meditations are the perfect way to relax. Most guided meditations ask you to relax all body parts – one by one. This saves you a lot of thinking, and you can doze off afterward if you want.

Meditation with Colors

Do you have a visual brain? Maybe a color-based meditation is for you. Make sure you are in a comfortable position and go through all the colors of the rainbow. Start with red and then move to orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. See each color in front of you and try to think of as many objects in that color as possible. Roses, red apples, a bright red sunset,…
