A particularly uncomfortable moment for Jennifer Lopez (50): during last weekend’s Toronto International Film Festival, the singer/actress was massively booed. A group of animal rights activists had gathered on the red carpet and shot Lopez sharply because of her love of fur. “You have blood on your hands,” they roared.
The 50-year-old J-Lo had gone to the film festival for the premiere of her latest print ‘Hustlers’. Things went wrong when Jennifer wanted to pose for the photographers on the red carpet: the members of action group Vegan anti-fur came together and started screaming, and made the world star publicly known for wearing and putting fur in the spotlight.
“You should be ashamed”, it sounded blared. Or also: “Aren’t you sinking through the ground of shame? How dare you wear fur”, “Stop killing innocent animals for their fur”, “Thousands of animals are slaughtered for your coats” and “J-Lo, you have blood on your hands!”
Lopez tried to ignore the rant of the action group diplomatically at first, but according to website TMZ, it was impossible to keep it up, after which the singer quickly went on with her evening.
Jennifer Lopez has been known for years to wear lots of furs. In the trailer of her new film ‘Hustler’, there is also a scene in which hair can be seen, although that may also be faux fur. Jennifer Lopez has not yet responded to the criticism at her address.
