Kim Kardashian is now also officially filing for divorce from Kanye West

After seven years of marriage, Kim Kardashian (40) has filed for divorce from Kanye West (43). That is what TMZ reports.

Kim Kardashian wants to share custody of their four children. Kanye would agree. The separation of their assets cannot be discussed. The couple signed a prenup before their marriage, and neither of them disputes the arrangement. When the breakup actually became final is not clear in the court documents Kim filed.

But it’s no secret that Kim and Kanye’s relationship hasn’t been going smoothly lately. When Kanye declared his candidacy for the US presidential elections, his appearance increasingly caused concern among fans and family.

For example, at his first rally, he tearfully told fans that he and Kim had considered having an abortion when the reality star was pregnant with their first child. Afterward, he also lashed out at his in-laws on social media. Matriarch Kris Jenner in particular, took umbrage.

Physical distance

According to sources, Kim was ready to pull the plug on their marriage, but she realized that Kanye’s remarks were the result of his (untreated) bipolar disorder. At such a vulnerable time, she did not want to let him down.

The couple did decide to live apart for a while. Kanye spent time at his ranch in Wyoming while Kim stayed in Calabasas with the children.

The breakup is said to be amicable, sources say. They report that differences in lifestyle and politics, in particular, caused the breakup.

Four children

Kim and Kanye met in the early 2000s. In 2010, he made his first appearance on ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, but Kim was still in a relationship with her second husband, Kris Humphries.

In 2012, the time did turn out to be right, and the two began a relationship. In June 2013, their first child North was born. A year later, Kim and Kanye got married. Three more children followed, Chicago, Psalm, and Saint.

Kim had been married twice before. For Kanye, it was his first marriage.

Million dollar villa in Calabasas

“Kim wants to keep the house for the children,” it sounds. “It is their home, they grew up there. The property is worth a whopping $60 million and is located in LA’s prestigious Hidden Hills, home to many celebs. The previous owner was none other than Lisa Marie Presley. The villa has a minimalist design, which means that there is as little furniture and other objects as possible. The walls are also mainly plain white.

However, this does not mean that the furniture is worth nothing: the sofa alone would have cost $600,000. The interior was co-designed by Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, who was hired by Kim and Kanye shortly after they bought the house.

Much to divide

In total, 2 billion dollars can be divided between the couple. In 2014, a few months before their wedding, the two signed a so-called ‘prenup’, a pre-marriage contract, according to some sources. It stated that Kim would receive $1 million for every year she is married to Kanye. That would currently mean that Kim will receive 6 million dollars from her ex-husband. She will also be able to claim their life insurance policy for life, even if they are no longer married.

Based on his music, clothing brand, and real estate, Kanye’s fortune is greater than hers. Kanye would have around 1.2 billion dollars in his possession. In turn, Kim has 900 million dollars to her name, which she earned with her reality show, clothing line and make-up brand.

“Everything was actually arranged quickly, regarding contracts,” said an insider. “Kanye didn’t even think they needed a pre-marriage contract and wanted to give Kim free rein. He was so in love with her at the time.”

“Just to be sure. You never know. And so you see, she was right. The only thing they don’t have is a custody agreement for the children.”

However, another source is convinced that it was Kanye who was proven right at the time. “They have no prenup and are now holding mediation talks in the hope of dividing their fortunes fairly. How long that will take is still a mystery.”
