Nigeria: Northern Christians write UN, US, EU, others, want Buhari to resign

A group of northern Christians, led by Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association, urged Nigerians to save the country from “bad leadership” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group is also seeking international intervention to save Nigerians from the grip of President Buhari.

Among the global organizations the association has sought help for are the African Union, the European Union, the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations and the United States of America.

The President of ACIPA, Luke Shehu, told journalists during a press conference in Jos that the demand became pertinent because Buhari was “nepotistic”, while the “Nigerian ethnic nationalities and particularly the Northern Christians are under siege.”

According to the organisation, it had observed that the administration of Buhari had failed in its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property, a cardinal constitutional responsibility, which he had sworn to carry out.

Shehu said, “While we may not conclude that insurgency in Nigeria is state-sponsored, there is clear and obvious complicity by government officials in some quarters.

“This administration should stop deceiving Nigerians that Boko Haram has been defeated.

“The truth is that after three years, Boko Haram has yet to be defeated despite the pre – election promise to do so in less than six months.”
