How to improve performance and mental alertness

The activity of a modern person, as a rule, is associated with mental work, sedentary work. Many of us have neither the strength nor the desire for physical activity – visiting the gym, swimming pool.

The result of this lifestyle is reduced performance and low mental activity. If you notice signs of one or the other in yourself, then know – it’s time to change your lifestyle and diet.

First, reconsider your attitude towards work and your lifestyle. You must understand that the more time you devote only to work, the lower its quality. For full-fledged and productive mental work, a change of activity is required. It can be physical labor or sports activity. But they must be regular. Even a daily half-hour walk before bedtime, a morning jog, will already allow you to unload the brain, give it a break and saturate the blood with oxygen, improve blood supply and brain activity.

Make the most of your weekends – sign up for a pool or gym at least once a week, allow your body to work hard physically. Go out of town, into nature, take a walk in the forest, sit on the banks of a river or a reservoir. This is a powerful energy boost, which will be enough for you for a whole working week

.

Second, pay attention to your diet. Try to have a hearty breakfast in the morning, even if you don’t feel like it. The morning hours and some time after lunch are the most productive for mental activity, so it is better not to be distracted by thoughts of food. Eat a full meal, not just a cup of tea and a sandwich.

In your diet, you should have a balanced meal containing proteins that contribute to producing substances that stimulate the brain’s activity – dopamine and adrenaline. They speed up the reaction and the process of thinking, increase energy. In this case, the protein entering your body must be of both animal and plant origin.

Improve brain activity and foods containing starch. B vitamins and niacin, which stimulate brain activity, are found in fish, eggs, cereals, and dairy products. An excellent stimulant is the polyunsaturated fatty acids found in olive oil and fish. Eat a varied and balanced diet, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and you will be able to maintain the ability to concentrate, improve memory and activate thought processes.
