‘Coming to America’ gets a sequel after more than 30 years

31 years after ‘Coming to America’ arrived in the halls, leading actor Eddie Murphy (57) confirms that there is a sequel in the making. “I am looking forward to bringing my character back to life”, the star smiles.

“I am looking forward to bringing all these iconic and beloved characters back to the big screen,” said the actor. Soon the American star player will return to the skin of Prins Akeem in the sequel to the legendary film. The brain behind the sequel is ‘Black-ish’ producer Kenya Barris.

In 2017 plans were on ground to make a sequel to the print, but these plans were never realized. Now it worked. “After many years of waiting. I am excited to announce that ‘Coming to America 2’ is finally official,” says Eddie Murphy. “We were able to put together a great team under the leadership of Craig Brewer.”

For the time being, nothing has shown about the storylines of the sequel. But in the American press there is already plenty of speculation about it. EW believes that Prince Akeem returns to America in the follow-up film to find his lost son. The prodigal son is in fact the heir to the fit of the fictional African country Zamunda.
