Five signs that you are exercising too much

Exercise is great and very rewarding, but even with it, you need to know when to stop, as overtraining can hinder your progress in sports and increase your risk of injury. Several signs can help you realize that you are exercising too much and it is time for you to rest.

Muscle strength does not increase

If you work out for hours at the gym, hoping to get stronger and slimmer but not notice any progress, you may be exercising too much.

Your muscles need regular rest and quality recovery to grow and get stronger. Therefore, experts recommend training no more than 3-4 times a week. This is especially true for beginners.

You cannot finish your workout

Sometimes overtraining will tire your muscles to the point where you can’t even do the usual amount of time. To complete a workout, you have to reduce your working weight or reduce the number of sets.

If you notice something like this, it’s time for you to take a break and take a break from sports.

Poor mood and sleep quality

Fatigue, irritability, bad mood, and insomnia are also signs of overtraining. Be sure to give yourself time to fully recover from a vigorous physical activity if you begin to notice that playing sports only worsens your well-being and does not improve it.

Fatigue limits mobility

Another serious sign that you are exercising too much is muscle fatigue, which limits your mobility. If you cannot squat low enough or hold a barbell in your hands due to painful sensations in the muscles, stop, put the sports equipment in place, and go home to rest.

You constantly need a massage roller

If you use the foam roller too often to relieve pain and fatigue and relax your muscles, you need long-term recovery and rest even at the height of your workout.

Spend at least one week without training: be sure to get a good night’s sleep and, if possible, go to the sauna or for a therapeutic and restorative massage.
