Never mention any of these ‘bad’ qualities during a job interview

During a job interview, you know for sure that several questions will come, likewise with the question of a bad characteristic. Employers would like to know whether you can reflect critically on yourself and improve yourself.

Really: having bad qualities and good qualities is not a bad thing at all. You can’t be perfect. It is more important that you recognize that you have these qualities and do something with them.

Don’t mention these bad qualities during your job interview

These are some things you should not mention. Often they are things that almost everyone says, or they are just too specific.

Don’t name a specific skill

It’s better not to name a specific skill (like Photoshop, let’s say something) as a bad quality. This is often not what they mean by the question, and these are things you can learn to do well. It’s not a weak spot that you have to deal with in the workplace.

Don’t mention a specific character trait

It’s important, to be honest, but be careful about mentioning specific character traits. For example, are you applying for a job in sales? Then it is not a good move to mention that you are shy, because that does not match what the job asks of you. You want them to hire you. Instead, make it less broad and say, for example, that you find it difficult to open up.

Please don’t make fun of it

It’s only natural that you find this a tricky question, so your instincts may be telling you now is a good time to joke. However, you don’t know how to react. Go for a safe answer, and therefore don’t make a stupid joke. In short: know how to bring your bad quality.

Don’t say you’re a perfectionist

A lot of people mention being a perfectionist during their job interview. It may, of course, be true in your case, but it is still a cliché that not many employers are waiting for. Moreover, in many cases, this is also a good quality that you can use.

Don’t use workaholic as an answer

Workaholics are also often heard as a bad characteristic. Therefore, they will probably ask what exactly you mean by this and if you have an example. Moreover, employers appreciate it when you have a good work-life balance.

Saying You Have No Bad Qualities

Avoid this at all times: saying you don’t have bad quality. Everyone has things that can improve, including you. Employers love it when you can look at yourself critically and honestly.

Don’t study your answers for the job interview

Of course, you should prepare for the job interview, but don’t try to study your answers. This makes it seem as if you are not sincere, and employers still do not know exactly what you need
